P+P Pöllath + Partners occupies a niche market, specialising in management representation and in this area it is unsurpassed in the German market. The firm also excels in fund formation where similarly it is deemed to have "the best practice in Germany". Competitors say the caveat of being focussed on these two specific areas means it is less formidable on the transactional side.
Deals
The firm has a wealth of recent experience advising on exits and acquisitions for clients. Among the firm's deals on the sell side, are Matthias Bruse and Jens Hörmann's advice to EQT III Funds on the disposal of Leybold Optics to Swiss group Bühler, and Brokhaus's divestment of 360 Treasury Systems to Summit Partners Funds, where Philipp von Braunschweig was lead council.
Renowned for its management participation experience, a major deal for the firm in 2012 was its advice in this area on EQT's acquisition of BSN Medical from Montagu for €1.8 billion. Further deals where the firm epresented the buyer include Equistone Equity Partners acquisition of Winkemann and Quadriga's purchase Lapp Insulators from Andlinger & Company.
