Once again, Andreas Neocleous is considered to be "very organised" and "very strong in corporate" by peers. The firm is famous for its size with over 90 fee earners operating in three different offices in Cyprus. The firm's philosophy is specialisation and depth, which means the firm believes in training lawyers to their specific area of practice. Kyriacos Georgiades and Elias Neocleous are regarded as "very reliable, efficient and with first class sources" by a client. However, competitors feel that the firm's philosophy has led to junior partners handling many transactions.
Excluding Andreas Neocleous himself, the firm currently has eight partners and clients also appreciate that lawyers willingness to work overtime. Russian related work is still the firm's main business, however it has recently expanded in the Asian market.
Deals
One significant transaction last year saw partner Elias Neocleous heavily involved in the Cyprus aspects of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Group's reorganisation with a value of over €10 billion.
Another transactional highlight saw partner Kyriacos Georgiades advising on the Cyprus law aspects of Marfin Popular Bank's latest Euro MTN programme worth up to €3 billion.
The firm has maintained strong connections with Russian clients and last summer Neocleous advised KKCG on its acquisition of a 100% participation interest in a Russian oil terminal worth $80 million.
The firm is also expanding its client base in Asia, with Panos Labropoulos advising on the $4 billion restructuring of Acer, a Taiwanese computer manufacturer. Labropoulos advised on the Cyprus law and tax aspects of the migration of Acer European Holdings from the Netherlands Antilles to the Republic of Cyprus, under the name Acer European Holdings.
